We spent eight weeks this summer during #grantchat talking about the different competencies that are focused on and tested for grant professionals taking their GPC exam through the Grant Professionals Certificiation Institute. With both of the #grantchat moderators, Diane and Jo, holding their GPCs, it is something that the #grantchat community knows they both feel brings a great deal of professional value to them individually. Let’s be honest – not all professionals are sure of that value or the ROI that they will experience by going through the eligibility and testing process, not to mention that it is a credential which needs to be maintained through professional development and documentation of our individual work.
We are going to spend this week discussing the pros, cons, and barriers to the GPC as a professional certification as well as look at other professional certifications that nonprofit and fundraising professionals hold. The GPC and CFRE are the two most common certifications held by nonprofit fundraising professionals, so we’ve teamed up with #fundchat (a weekly Twitter chat for fundraising professionals that covers ALL topics related to fundraising that is on Wednesday’s at 12pm ET) to talk about this topic during BOTH #grantchat this week and during #fundchat to see what similarities and differences the two communities have about the topic. We hope you join us for #grantchat this week, but also consider joining us on #fundchat this week as well.
If you have a blog post, e-book or other resource about grants administration and fiscal management of grants that you would like to share with the Grantchat community be sure to have your link ready and share it during the chat!
