How much does it cost your organization to apply for a grant? How much does it cost for your organization to manage an awarded grant? How do those numbers vary by funder type? How do you decide if your organization is going to be moving forward toward meeting its mission with the support of a grant? Big big questions! Each organization likely has their own net grant calculation even if they do not formally recognize the process they go through. Is that calculation right? Wrong? Is there a “right” or a “wrong?”
We’re going to be discussing the of a “net value of a grant” or a “net grant ROI calculation” during this upcoming week’s #grantchat with guest Dahna Goldstein (@philantech) of Philantech. If you have a blog post or have an article that you would like to share about the concept, we would love for you to do so in the comment section or by using the #grantchat on the social media network of your choice.
You can do a bit of pre-reading if you are interested by looking at a post from 2010 that Dahna wrote about The Cost of Managing Grants. This is clearly a topic she is very passionate about and has been something that she has been talking with colleagues about for a number of years. We can’t wait to engage the #grantchat community in the dialogue as well!
