As a grant consultant, we each have numerous individualized business goals. They sound a bit different for each consultant depending on the “why” that drove them to start their consulting business and why they continue to do the work each day. The goals likely include securing grant awards for their clients. The goal of creating long-term client relationships is also a common goal. Just as we as grant professionals are working to help our clients create long-term funding partnerships with grant making organizations, we are also as grant consultants, looking to create long-term partnerships with our grant seeking clients. There are so many lessons and best practices that can be used in both situations!
While creating strong client relationships and having strong client management practices in place is a goal for grant consultants, there are are still lots of questions being posed about “Am I doing it right?” or “Are there other tools that would work better?” whether a new or experienced consultant as everyone creates their own custom approach to client management. Here are some of the common questions expressed by our #grantchat community that we think will resonate with many other grant consultants and freelancers.
So how do we answer those questions and so many others about successfully navigating the ins and outs of client management? With the knowledge and willingness to share from the #grantchat community members, of course!
Do you have other tips that you would add to the advice given by the #grantchat community? We would love to hear it! Share it with us in the comments below or via social media using the #grantchat hashtag.
