Tackling Professional Dilemmas

Knowing that grant professionals are often alone in their office or within their organization, the semi-annual “what would you do” conversations among #grantchat help us to talk openly about common professional dilemmas. The questions we posed do not always have a clear “right” or “wrong” answer. Some can be addressed or analyzed with the support of the GPA or AFP codes of ethics. Others take some experience and power of persuasion or strong analysis in order to tactfully and successfully address.

While we talked about ten different common questions and professional dilemmas this past week on #grantchat, the two below are those that are cropping up the most frequently over the past quarter.

Question: You are asked to set your own performance metrics for a new position that you will be filling. What would you do? #grantchatCapture1 Capture2 Capture3 Capture4 Capture5 Capture6 Capture7

Question: You are asked to share a writing sample for a new client/employer. What would you do? #grantchat

What would you add? How would you handle either of these professional dilemmas differently? We’d love to hear! Please share your input in the comments section on the website or via social media using the #grantchat hashtag.
