Many members of the Grant Professionals Foundation joined us for #grantchat this past Tuesday to talk about some of the basics of professional development for grant professionals, what the role of the Grant Professionals Foundation can be in our careers, and to catch up on what #grantchat community members are excited about for the upcoming Grant Professionals Association National Conference in St. Louis in November of 2015 (Be prepared to follow: #gpaconf15).
We started with a fun question to get everyone acquainted: “What is your favorite method of professional development?” It was fun to read about all the different ways that our colleagues and #grantchat community members prefer to approach community development – the answers below show that there is no one size fits all solution to professional development in the grants field!
The next question though is often about how to pay for some of the professional development opportunities listed above. Especially for those in small organizations that do not have professional development budgets or for those getting started as freelancers or consultants. One of the best answers is to look at the different scholarships available through the Grant Professionals Foundation, Grant Professionals Certification Institute and Grant Professionals Association and local GPA chapters in order to see what support *may* be available to help support your goals.
