The DATA Act sets government-wide standards for grant reporting and grant management for recipients of federal funds. It is aimed at increasing transparency and to make grant reporting easier for nonprofits and the public sector. It is impacting all levels of government. What many nonprofits might not realize is that reporting requirements will, in many cases, impact nonprofits that receive any federal funding, even pass through funding from government agencies, foundations, and nonprofit partners.
The DATA Act requires a degree of data management that does not exist in all organizations today to be of most value to the government. Departments attain most value from the DATA Act by going beyond just reporting the data and into leveraging this as a new management capability to optimize their internal data management and business intelligence processes. – ACT-IAC Project
